Switzerland can feel like poor value when you pay premium prices for rushed days, last-minute hotels, bad bases and mountain tickets bought without checking the sky. It can feel worth it when the spend buys you what the country does unusually well: easy rail movement, clean lake towns, high-mountain access, car-free villages and scenery that does not need much interpretation. The trick is not to hunt for a bargain version of Switzerland that barely exists. It is to decide what deserves the money and cut the rest without guilt. If mountain views are the reason you came, protect the mountain days before adding more cities.
