Analytics

WhereToNext uses Vercel Web Analytics for basic traffic information such as page views, referring sources, broad device or browser information and broad location categories when Vercel provides them.

Speed Insights provides site-performance information.

We do not use this setup for ad retargeting, selling user data, tracking people around the web or building invasive personal profiles.

We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, itinerary notes, free-text planning inputs, full itinerary details, precise locations or sensitive travel information through analytics events.

Browser-stored planning information is not used to create cross-device visitor profiles. Any future expansion of account sync or analytics must be disclosed before it is used.

Product analytics

WhereToNext is not currently collecting first-party product analytics on the public website.

We are testing a privacy-limited measurement system in non-production environments to understand which guides and planning tools are useful. It is designed not to collect names, email addresses, search text, trip notes, exact travel dates, saved content, share tokens or precise locations.

Before first-party product analytics is enabled on the public website, this notice will be updated with the final collection, retention and control details.

Planner map lookups

Planner uses bundled or previously cached coordinates where possible.

If a place still needs coordinates, your browser may send that location text to a third-party geocoding service.

The lookup result is stored in your browser to reduce repeat requests.

Avoid entering a sensitive private location if you do not want that location text sent to a map provider.

Optional sign-in

Email sign-in creates a profile stored in this browser so you can reopen saved work. It does not currently sync your data across devices.

Google sign-in is optional. If you use it, basic Google profile details may be stored in this browser to keep the signed-in experience recognisable.

Cross-device account sync is not currently active. Any future account-sync feature would require an updated privacy notice before it goes live.

Downloading or clearing local data

Browser-stored data remains on that device until you clear it, your browser removes it or a WhereToNext clear/reset control removes it.

The Profile area includes controls to download WhereToNext-owned browser data and clear saved local data from the browser.

Clearing browser data may remove saved plans.

Affiliate links and provider lookups

Affiliate links open third-party provider sites, which apply their own privacy and booking terms.

Where a provider price lookup is used, the request may include details needed for the quote, such as hotel ID, dates, occupancy, currency, locale and market.

Prices and availability can change. Confirm the final price, fees, room rules, availability and cancellation terms with the provider before booking.

Contact and correction emails

WhereToNext provides email links for general enquiries and correction reports. These links open your device’s email application. The website itself does not collect, transmit or store the contents of your message.

When you send an email, your address and message are handled by your email provider and our mailbox provider. We use that information only to review the enquiry, investigate the reported issue and respond where appropriate.

We do not place email addresses, message contents or correction details into website analytics, browser storage or marketing systems.

Spam and irrelevant messages may be deleted promptly. Routine correspondence is normally deleted within 12 months after the matter is resolved. Correction reports may be retained for up to 24 months after resolution to document the editorial review. Information may be retained longer where an issue remains active or where reasonably required for legal, security or dispute purposes.
