Is France a good destination for families?

France can work beautifully with children, but the family version needs fewer bases and more parks, markets, apartments, beaches or countryside breaks. Paris plus one gentler region often beats a grand tour.

Answer

Families do best in France when the route has ordinary comforts: a bakery near the base, parks or gardens, short train days, apartment space, and meals that do not require everyone to behave perfectly at the end of a long queue. Paris can work, but it needs breaks. Provence, the Loire, Normandy, Brittany or the Riviera can work, but not all in the same sprint. The family trip should choose fewer regions and give them texture. A child remembering a market breakfast or beach afternoon is not a planning failure.
