The mainland gives a different Greece from the Cyclades: monasteries on stone towers, old sanctuaries, fortified towns, mountain roads and coastlines without the same island-transfer theatre. It is not a consolation prize for people who cannot fit another ferry. But it needs space. Meteora is stronger with an overnight or a careful route. Delphi works best when the journey does not feel like an errand. The Peloponnese rewards a car and several days. Add the mainland if you want depth and movement by road; cut it if the island part is already too tight.
