Is two weeks enough for India?

Photo of a mountain or valley landscape in India.

Two weeks is enough for a strong India trip, but not for India as a whole. Choose north, south, Rajasthan, Kerala or a focused city-and-culture route; the trip gets worse when every day is a recovery from movement.

Answer

With two weeks, India needs editing early. The Golden Triangle plus a little Rajasthan can work; Kerala plus Tamil Nadu can work; Mumbai, Goa and a southern coast route can work. What usually does not work is adding every famous name because the flights technically exist. India is rewarding when you have time to sit with a place after the first shock wears off: a second walk in a bazaar, a slower meal, a temple visited without sprinting. Build buffer days, keep some transfers boring and do not make the itinerary depend on perfect sleep, perfect trains and perfect digestion.
