Where to Next?

Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur or Jaisalmer — which Rajasthan stops should you choose?

Jaipur is the easiest Golden Triangle extension, Udaipur is softer and lake-led, Jodhpur gives fort-and-blue-city drama, and Jaisalmer is the desert commitment. Choose by rhythm, not by collecting forts.

Answer

Rajasthan becomes much better when you stop treating every city as a required stamp. Jaipur is convenient and busy, with big sights close to the classic route. Udaipur is gentler, more romantic and easier to slow down in. Jodhpur has a powerful fort-and-market feel without pretending to be polished. Jaisalmer is the bigger commitment: desert distance, longer travel and a mood that works best when you are not rushing. For most travellers, two or three Rajasthan stops beat a forced loop through all of them.
