How should travellers get around India: trains, drivers or flights?
Use trains where the route supports them, drivers where distance and friction get awkward, and flights when India’s scale starts stealing the holiday. The wrong transport choice can become the trip.
Answer
India is not one transport system. Trains can be memorable and useful, especially on routes where they are direct and bookable. Private drivers can turn awkward Rajasthan or hill-country movement into a calmer day, though they add cost and still require good judgement. Domestic flights protect time when regions sit far apart. Buses and shared vehicles may be practical in some areas but can be tiring for visitors on short trips. The point is not to prove you used the most authentic mode. It is to spend your energy where the trip actually pays you back.
