A balanced trip gives Georgia about 16 days and Armenia about 14: use Tbilisi and Yerevan as flexible bases, but spend real time beyond them among Georgia’s mountain valleys and Armenia’s monasteries and dry plateaus. Svaneti changes the calculation. If the high mountains are the main reason for going, give Georgia closer to 18 days and Armenia 12, allowing five to seven days for the journey in, the stay and the journey out; shorten the rest of Georgia rather than cutting Armenia back to Yerevan alone. Tbilisi and Yerevan are flexible bases; Svaneti is not. When that feels too tight, skip Svaneti and stay longer elsewhere in both countries.
