Jeddah and AlUla can justify a focused trip, but they are a weak casual add-on. The payoff needs to outweigh another flight, another accommodation block and a route that is already carrying Egypt or Jordan.

Jeddah and AlUla offer a clear contrast: a Red Sea city with its own urban rhythm, then a desert landscape where access and timing shape the experience. That is enough to build around, but not enough to pretend the module is frictionless. Flights, ground transport, booking systems and heat can turn a short extension into several tightly managed days. Saudi Arabia earns its place when AlUla is a genuine priority and the route can give both places breathing room, not simply because it sits in the same broad region on the map. Leave it out when the main trip already contains Cairo, Petra or another high-intensity section. A strong regional journey does not improve automatically with one more country.
