How many nights should travellers give Bangkok?
Give Bangkok at least a real stop, not just a recovery night. It is loud, hot and sometimes slow to love, but skipping it means missing the place where Thailand’s food, transport and daily rhythm start to make sense.
Answer
Bangkok is not everyone’s favourite part of Thailand, but it is often the part that explains the rest. Two or three nights let you eat beyond hotel breakfasts, understand river and rail movement, see temples without racing, and feel the contrast between old neighbourhoods, malls, markets and late-night streets. One night after a long flight can reduce the city to traffic and jet lag, which is a poor verdict on any capital. More time suits food-focused travellers, repeat visitors and people who like large cities. Less time is fine if heat, noise and density drain you quickly, but leave with the sense that you made a choice, not just an escape.
