Is two weeks enough for Mexico?

El Castillo pyramid at Chichén Itzá.

Two weeks is enough for a brilliant Mexico trip, not for every Mexico trip. Choose two or three regions and protect travel days, because CDMX, Oaxaca, Yucatán, Chiapas and Baja do not sit as neatly together as the wish list suggests.

Answer

With two weeks, Mexico needs cuts made early. Mexico City plus Oaxaca is a strong food-and-culture trip. Yucatán plus the Riviera Maya gives ruins, cenotes and beach time without crossing the country. Mexico City, Oaxaca and a short beach finish can work if transport is kind, but it leaves little room for lazy days or delays. The weak version is a route that spends two nights everywhere and never lets a neighbourhood, market or coast settle. Mexico’s best moments often happen after the first meal, the second walk and the plan loosens slightly.
