When is the best time to visit Nepal?

The best time depends on whether the trip is about trekking, culture, wildlife or lowland travel. Autumn and spring carry the classic trekking appeal, but crowds, haze, monsoon rain and winter cold all change the calculation.

Answer

Nepal does not have one best season for every traveller. Autumn often brings the classic mountain promise: clearer skies, stronger trekking conditions and busy trails. Spring can be excellent too, with different colour and atmosphere, but haze and crowding may affect expectations. Monsoon is greener and less straightforward, with rain, leeches, landslides and transport uncertainty in some areas. Winter can bring clearer air and quieter places, but cold nights, snow and high-route limitations matter. Choose dates by the trip’s main purpose, not by a generic weather chart. Trekking, wildlife, festivals and lowland travel each pull the calendar in a slightly different direction.
