Kerala, parts of Rajasthan, Goa or a slower South India route may suit some families better than a packed multi-region itinerary. Food, heat, crowds and illness risk need practical attention, but children can also respond beautifully to trains, forts, animals, markets and small kindnesses. The trick is leaving enough room for ordinary needs.
