Is India a good destination for families?

India can work with children, but the family version needs fewer bases, private transport where useful, heat breaks, food caution and a route that does not punish everyone for being tired.

Answer

India with children is not impossible, but it should be planned less like a greatest-hits race and more like an energy budget. Choose regions carefully, keep transfers simple, book accommodation for recovery as much as location, and add calm stops after intense cities. Kerala, parts of Rajasthan, Goa or a slower South India route may suit some families better than a packed multi-region itinerary. Food, heat, crowds and illness risk need practical attention, but children can also respond beautifully to trains, forts, animals, markets and small kindnesses. The trick is leaving enough room for ordinary needs.
