But it is not the island to add automatically just because a Malaysia trip needs “a beach”. If your route is already food- and city-focused, Langkawi can be a pleasant change. If you are short on time or hoping for the most characterful version of Malaysia, those days may work harder in Penang or Borneo. Go for rest and simplicity, not because every itinerary must end on sand.
