There is no glory in making the desert transfer stressful. Some camps are straightforward with the right vehicle and directions; others are not a place to learn sand driving after a long day. Rental terms may also matter more than bravado. If you are not confident, use the camp’s transfer or a driver and save your energy for the actual desert. Oman rewards independence, but independence sometimes means knowing which logistics to hand over.
