Are sleeper buses in Vietnam worth using?
Sleeper buses can be worth using selectively, but do not build the whole trip on them. A cheap night in motion is only clever if you can still enjoy the next day.
Answer
The appeal is obvious: move while sleeping, save a hotel night, arrive with more daylight. The reality is more mixed. Some sleeper buses are fine; others are cramped, late, bumpy or stressful in ways that make the saving feel expensive by morning. They are best used with intention, not as default glue for an overstuffed map. Check recent operator feedback, avoid impossible connection plans and give yourself permission to use a train, flight or extra night when the route is starting to punish you. Vietnam is tiring enough in good ways. Do not let every best day begin after a bad night’s sleep.
