Is Vietnam a good country for travelling with children?
Yes, Vietnam can be a strong family trip, but do not build it like a backpacker dash. Choose fewer bases, protect sleep and use easier transfers when the map starts asking too much.
Answer
Vietnam has plenty that can work for families: food that can be simple or adventurous, lively streets, boat rides, beaches, lantern evenings, gentle rural bases and hotels with good value. The challenge is not whether children can enjoy it. The challenge is route design. Long sleeper buses, late arrivals, heavy traffic, heat and constant packing can wear down a family trip fast. Pick bases with room to pause — Hoi An or Da Nang for central ease, Ninh Binh for scenery, Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi in measured doses — and spend money where it buys energy back. Vietnam with children is best when it is edited, not heroic.
