When does Salalah and Dhofar make sense in an Oman trip?
Salalah and Dhofar make sense when they are treated as their own southern chapter. The payoff is real, especially around the seasonal green landscape, but distance and timing decide everything.
Answer
Salalah is one of the places where Oman changes mood, but it is not close to the classic northern loop in any practical sense. Add Dhofar when you can give it proper days, not when the itinerary already has Muscat, Nizwa, mountains, wadis and desert fighting for space. Around khareef, the south can feel lush and atmospheric; outside that rhythm, the appeal shifts. Either way, it deserves planning as a region, not a final line item.
